Diebold, Sutej named CoSIDA All-District

FAYETTEVILLE - Teammates Tara Diebold and Tina Sutej have been voted as members of the 2012 CoSIDA Academic Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team. The honor is the third career mention for Diebold and first for Sutej. As members of the District VI First Team, both Razorback pole vaulters are now eligible for Academic All-America status.

In her senior season, Diebold earned the fourth All-America honor of her career following the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships and was the runner-up at the SEC Indoor Championships with a personal-best clearance of 4.37m/14-4. Heading into the NCAA West Preliminary, she was ranked fourth in the conference with an outdoor mark of 4.15m/13-7.25. Diebold was an NCAA first-round qualifier.

Academically, Diebold is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America selection with previous honors in 2009 and 2011. This latest recognition is the third all-district award of her career. She is also a multiple-time member of the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll and USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Diebold owns a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average as a communications disorder major.

Sutej is the two-time defending NCAA indoor champion in the pole vault with victories in 2011 and 2012. She is also a five-time SEC champion in the event. At the SEC Indoor Championships in February, she improved upon her own indoor collegiate record with a clearance of 4.55m/14-11. During her senior season, Sutej has won 10 of 11 competitions and enters the NCAA Outdoor Championships ranked No. 1 nationally in the pole vault.

The Ljubljana, Slovenia, native was named the 2012 SEC Field Athlete of the Year for the indoor season. In the classroom, she carries a 3.438 grade-point average as a biology major. Sutej is a past member of the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll.
