DES MOINES, Iowa - For his work and the performance of his student-athletes, associate head coach Rolando Greene was recognized Monday as the South Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year. Now in his 16th season with the University of Arkansas women's track and field team, Greene is being honored by the USTFCCCA for the second consecutive season and the fourth time in his career.

At this week's NCAA Championships, Greene has two athletes in the 400 meters, two in the 100-meter hurdles, one at 200 meters and one in the heptathlon. The Razorbacks will also be represented in both 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays. Greene has helped push Arkansas' 4x100-meter relay back into the NCAA Championships for the first time since the 2004 season.

Under Greene's watch, Arkansas won its first-ever SEC outdoor title at 400 meters when Regina George ran to victory at the conference meet in Baton Rouge. At the SEC meet, George ran the No. 2 and 3 times in program history. Earlier in the season, the Razorbacks collected three titles at the Drake Relays with wins in the 100-meter hurdles, 4x200 relay and sprint-medley relay. The SMR quartet of George, Gwendolyn Flowers, Tiffany Hines and Whitney Jones broke the meet record with a time of 3:45.48.

Prior to this season, Greene earned regional coaching honors in 2004, 2007 and 2011. He is now eligible for national selection as a result of his selection. The USTFCCCA awards are voted on by the nation's coaches. For more information regarding Razorback track and field or University of Arkansas athletics, please visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
