FAYETTEVILLE – The Razorback swimming and diving team opened regular season competition Friday evening at the North Texas Relay Invitational in Southlake, Texas. The team placed first of four teams with a total of 414 points, winning nine events of 10. Host team North Texas placed second overall, and Southern Methodist and Houston placed third and fourth, respectively.

Susanna White, Nina Drolc and Maddie Monroe kicked off the evening with a win in the 300-yard butterfly relay posting a time of 2:50.32.

Southern Methodist placed first in the 300 backstroke relay in 2:48.94, which was the only event not won by a Razorback squad. Anna Mayfield, Sarah Easterling and Aubrey Golbek finished second with a time of 2:50.75.

Nikki Daniels, Julia Banach and Mary Margaret Soderberg combined efforts to place first in the 300 breaststroke relay with a time of 3:16.11.

Nicole Menzel, Lauren Jordan, Rachel Stoehr and Mayfield commanded the 800 freestyle relay winning the event in 7:33.96. Second-place Houston was nearly 10 seconds behind, clocking in at 7:43.45.

Arkansas rallied again to take first in the 500 freestyle relay, as the team of Monroe, Stoehr, Menzel and Jordan finished in 4:35.70.

The most significant margin of the evening came during the 400 medley relay when Mayfield, Daniels, White and Drolc finished in 3:47.76. Southern Methodist completed the race 10.58 seconds after the Razorbacks’ win to claim second. The win marked Mayfield’s first in the event, while Daniels collected her fifth career win in the event, and White and Drolc earned their third wins each.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Monroe, Golbek, White and Drolc took first with a time of 1:34.42. This experienced squad consisted of swimmers who had previously recorded wins in the event. Monroe, White and Drolc added their third career wins in the event. It was Golbek’s second event win in the 200 freestyle relay.

Menzel, Jordan and Julia Kucherich took first in the 1500 freestyle relay distance event with a time of 15:23.43, adding points to the Razorbacks’ first-place finish.

White, Golbek, Easterling and Daniels completed the 400 medley relay in 3:58.28. This event required each swimmer to complete a 100 individual medley during their leg of the race.

The Razorbacks capped off the night with a win in the 400 freestyle relay as the team of Drolc, Mayfield, Monroe and Stoehr finished in 3:29.90. The race marked Drolc’s fourth first-place win in the 400 freestyle relay. It was Mayfield’s and Monroe’s third first-place finish and Stoehr’s first win in the event.

The team will continue competition, facing North Texas in a dual meet Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in Denton, Texas. Arkansas leads the all-time record against North Texas in dual meets 8-0. Their most recent meeting was in 2010 when the Razorbacks defeated the Mean Green 153-68 in Denton, Texas.
