KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Arkansas volleyball team capped its weekend Sunday afternoon with a four-set road win (13-25, 27-25, 25-20, 25-22) at Tennessee. The Razorbacks were paced by a pair of career-best performances from senior Hayley Koop and freshman Breana Jones who registered 18 and 13 kills, respectively. Behind the block, senior libero Emily Helm posted 27 digs. Arkansas improves to 12-6 overall and 5-2 in Southeastern Conference play.

Senior Raymariely Santos filled the stat sheet against the Lady Vols with nine kill, 23 assists and 12 digs, just one kill shy of a second triple-double. She now has a team-leading seventh double-double. Junior Meredith Hays tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 14 digs. At the net, Jones led the way with five total blocks.

After dropping the opener, Arkansas rallied to even the match at one set apiece with a 27-25 win in game two. The Razorbacks had to save one set point for Tennessee (8-11, 0-5 SEC) and on Arkansas’ second opportunity to win the set, Koop found a spot deep in the court to clinch the set for her team. After being blanked in the first set, Koop responded with six kills in the second.

With the score tied at 16-all in the third set, the Razorbacks put together a four-point surge to take the lead on the scoreboard. The run of points featured kills from Koop and Santos and a service ace from Helm. On set point, Jones put the ball down for her 10th kill of the match to give Arkansas a 2-1 lead in the match. Jones now has four double-digit efforts this season.

Arkansas turned an early tie into a three-point lead at 13-10 after consecutive attack errors from Tennessee. The Razorbacks’ lead grew to as many as five points but the home team battled to cut the deficit to two points late in the set. However, Hays pounded a ball through Tennessee’s block to end the match with her 14th kill of the match.

The Razorbacks return to action next weekend with a pair of home matches against No. 2 Florida and Georgia. For Friday’s match against the Gators, the first 1,000 fans at Barnhill Arena will receive a free Razorback pom-pom. Sunday’s contest with the Bulldogs will be Dollar Ticket Day with the team signing autographs after the match.
