FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  – The No. 8 University of Arkansas women’s track and field team added four more national qualifiers on day two of the 2014 NCAA West Preliminary. Tamara Myers (triple jump), Taylor Ellis-Watson (400m), Grace Heymsfield (3KSC) and Jessica Kamilos (3KSC) will represent Arkansas at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Champions. Heading into the final day of competition, the Razorbacks have qualified nine individuals in 10 events.

After punching her ticket to Eugene in long jump on Thursday, Myers moved from 12th to 4th place on a final leap of 42-8.25 to earn her second qualifying mark of the week. She became the second Razorback to advance to NCAA Championships on Friday.

Ellis-Watson earned her first trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships as a Razorbacks with a ninth-place finish in the 400-meter, clocking a season-best 53.02. Regine Williams advanced to Saturday’s 200-meter quarterfinal with an automatically qualifying time of 23.46.

“I’m so happy to make it to nationals for the first time,” said Ellis-Watson. “I’ve been through a lot this year, I’m glad to finally be making it in an open event, outdoors.”

Arkansas pushed two more through to Eugene in the final event the day, the 3,000-meter steeplechase. In heat one, Kamilos clocked 10:13:68 for her first-career trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Heymsfield cruised past the finish line in 10:01.89 for an overall second-place finish and will join Kamilos in Eugene.

“I just settled into a mindset of being just like practice,” said Heymsfield. “Same track, same everything. I just settled into a rhythm. I think I kind of lost the rhythm at the end, but who cares, I’m going to Eugene.”

The final day of competition will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with women’s hammer throw. For more information on Razorback Track and Field, follow @RazorbackTF.
