FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas softball team opens its Southeastern Conference season with a weekend home series with No. 2/4 Tennessee. First pitch of the series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT) at Bogle Park. Games Saturday and Sunday are both set for a 1 p.m. start time. The Razorbacks enter the conference season with a 19-6 overall record which equals the best start in program history.

During the season, UA students and fans 17 years and younger get into all Arkansas softball games for free with valid ID. General admission tickets are $4 while tickets for groups of 10 or more are $2 at the ticket window. Season tickets for the 2014 campaign are available for $45 in addition to opportunity for fans to rent a suite at Bogle Park during the year for one or two games or the entire series. For more information or questions, call (479) 575-6904.

Arkansas and Tennessee (22-2) have split the last four meetings between the two teams. Last season, the Razorbacks posted a 2-1 victory to claim the lone game of a rain-shortened series in Knoxville. Nine of Arkansas' 13 wins in the series have come on in Fayetteville including a 4-1 win at Bogle Park during the 2012 season. Positioned as high as No. 2 in this week's release of national polls, Tennessee is the fourth ranked opponent this season for the Razorbacks.

Among this weekend's game promotions, Saturday will be Military Appreciation Day in which the first 200 fans receive a free t-shirt. Fans with a military ID will receive free admission to the game while veterans and active duty service members are invited to line up with the team along the third-base line for the national anthem. Game two of the Arkansas-Tennessee series will also serve as Senior Day for Clarisa Navarro.

Through the team's first 25 games, Navarro leads Arkansas with a .412 batting average and is tied with Kasey Fagan for the team lead at 26 RBI. Fagan also has a team-high 29 runs scored while Stephanie Canfield paces the Razorbacks with 29 hits. Devon Wallace has hit a team-high five home runs and leads the SEC with 29 walks. Grace Moll leads the pitching staff with eight wins and 46 strikeouts. Behind the plate, Jayme Gee has thrown out an SEC-best eight runners attempting to steal a base.

Entering its first weekend of conference play, Arkansas leads the SEC with a .349 batting average, .471 on-base percentage, 224 runs scored, 200 RBI, 10 triples and 375 total bases. The Razorbacks are second among conference teams in three other categories-slugging percentage (.582), hits (225) and walks (139).
