FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas softball signee Kimmy Beasley was named the 2011 State Softball Player of the year, announced this week by The Gatorade Company and ESPN RISE. The Foreman High School (Foreman, Ark.) pitcher is one of nine players to sign a National Letter of Intent with for the 2011-12 Razorbacks softball season.

Beasley has helped to guide the Gators to consecutive 2A state championships as a left-handed pitcher. In the semi-final game of the 2011 Arkansas State Championship, Beasley struck out 14 and walked two in her seven innings of work in the circle. She came back in the title game to help the Foreman Gators to yet another championship title with a 4-1 win over Magnet Cove.

"She had worked really hard throughout her high school career," head coach Mike Larabee said. "I think the honor is very well deserved and we are really excited for her to become a part of the Razorback softball family."

Annually, The Gatorade Company along with ESPN RISE recognizes high school athletes with exceptional athletic achievements as well as high academic excellence and superior character off the field.

Beasley joins Alyssa Bass, Victoria Brown, Ciara Clampitt, Katie Harrison, Clarisa Navarro, Megan Pearson, Maddie Reese and Devon Wallace as the 2011-12 recruiting class for Larabee.
