FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team registered an 11-10 win over South Carolina Friday night at Bogle Park to snap a four-game skid. Jennifer Rambo, on her Senior Day, scored the game-winning run on a high chopper off the bat of Stephanie Canfield to clinch the victory. The Razorbacks improve to 25-18 overall with the win and pick up their third conference victory.

Arkansas jumped out to a big lead after an eight-run first inning that was punctuated by a grand slam off the bat of Devon Wallace in her second at-bat of the frame. It was her second grand slam of the season and third of her career, all of which have come during SEC play. Wallace finished the game 3-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored.

South Carolina (26-15, 6-10 SEC) began to chip away at the Razorback lead with four runs in the third inning and pulled to within one with another four-spot in the top of the six. The Gamecocks were paced by a two-homer performance by Kaylea Snaer, including a grand slam in the sixth. Arkansas scored runs in the fourth and fifth but the scoreboard read 10-10 after the visitors plated the game-tying run in the top of the seventh.

Rambo led off the Razorbacks’ half of the seventh with a walk to reach base for the third time in the game. Wallace knocked a single off the pitcher’s glove and Rambo moved up to third on an errant throw to first. On the first pitch of her at-bat, Stephanie Canfield bounced a high chopper for an infield single that allowed Rambo to slide across the plate for the game winner.

Prior to Friday’s game, the Razorbacks honored Rambo during the team’s second of six Senior Day celebrations this season. Arkansas will recognize Chloe Oprzedek before Saturday’s game. The middle game of the weekend series will also be televised by CST with first pitch set for 1:07 p.m. (CT). Bernie Guenther and Megan Bush will handle the play-by-play and color commentary duties, respectively.
