FAYETTEVILLE – Clarisa Navarro drove in the game-winning run on her Senior Day to send the University of Arkansas softball team to a 5-4 victory over No. 2/4 Tennessee at Bogle Park. The Razorbacks trailed by three entering the bottom of the seventh inning but rallied with four runs for the 500th win in program history. In game two of Saturday’s doubleheader, Tennessee earned a split with an 8-0 win. Arkansas is now 20-8 overall and 1-2 in Southeastern Conference play.

After giving up the first run of the game in the top of the third, the Razorbacks tied the score in the next half inning with an RBI double off the bat of Parker Pocklington. Pinch runner Ashley Martindale raced around from first to score on the extra-base hit. The Lady Volunteers added three runs over the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-1 lead.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh and Pocklington and Jayme Gee in scoring position, Devon Wallace stepped to the plate as the potential tying run. The junior delivered with a three-run line shot over the wall in center field to tie the game at 4-all. It was her team-leading sixth home run of the season. Kasey Fagan followed with a single and moved up to second on a wild pitch. On the eighth pitch of her at-bat, Navarro knocked the game winner down the line in left field to plate Fagan and complete the come-from-behind victory.

For her relief work in the circle, Sydney Wright earned her fourth win of the season. She registered three strikeouts and kept Tennessee off the scoreboard over the final 2.1 innings of the game to keep the Razorbacks within striking distance.

In game two of Saturday’s doubleheader, Tennessee scored in each of its three appearances at the plate including four runs on back-to-back home runs in the top of the second inning. The Lady Volunteers led 7-0 at the end of three innings. Navarro and Amanda Geile had Arkansas’ only hits of the game, a pair of singles in the fourth inning. Tennessee scored its eighth run in the sixth on its way to the run-rule victory.
