GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 43 University of Arkansas women’s golf team fired a first round 297 and is in ninth place overall at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., Friday.

Sophomore Emily Tubert carded a first round two-over 72 and is tied for 13th overall leading Arkansas after the first day of play on the Mark Bostick Golf Course.   Tubert was even through 15 holes but doubled the 16th as she finished.

Freshman Hally Leadbetter stepped up big for Arkansas going three-over with a 73 on a course she had played several times as a prepster.  Leadbetter is tied for 18th after one round.

"I'm so proud of Hally," head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.  "She did a nice job of using all her resources today and is opening to learning.  It is so cool to see a player take all the information and put it into play.

"Emily was solid today and we are very close to putting together something special," Estes-Taylor said.  "We are in a place that we can strike from and we are all excited about getting back out there tomorrow and move up the leaderboard."

Sophomore Emma Lavy shot a 74 and is tied for 28th, followed by junior Victoria Vela and sophomore Emily Podzielinski both shot 78 and are tied for 66th overall.
