Tubert, Lavy in action

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas juniors-to-be Emily Tubert and Emma Lavy both competed as summer women’s golf competitions continue.

Tubert, a two-time All-Southeastern Conference and National Golf Coaches Association All-American, shot a one-over 73 in the first round of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J. Monday.

The Burbank,Calif., native turned even with three birdies and three bogies on the front nine.  Tubert birdied the 11th hole with a t three on the par-four 316-yard hole but doubled No. 13 to finish one-over.  She is tied for 36th overall, five strokes off the lead in the field of 130.

Stroke play at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship continues Tuesday before moving to match play for the final four rounds.  Tubert won the event in 2010.

Lavy, a Fayetteville, Ark., native, is taking part in the 112th Women’s Western Golf Association National Amateur Championship at Monroe Golf and Country Club in Monroe, Mich.  The six-day event opened with rain delayed stroke play Monday and Tuesday followed by match play for the final four rounds.

Lavy is 21st overall shooting a two-over 74 with a 36 on the front nine and a 38 on the back nine in first day action.
