FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 12th-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team returns to the links after the winter training session traveling to Rio Mar Beach Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico for the 11th Annual Lady Puerto Rico Classic Sunday-Tuesday.

Head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor leads the Razorbacks back into action after a three-event fall as Arkansas looks to pick up where it left off in October.

This week, Estes-Taylor travels All-American Emily Tubert, Emma Lavy, Regina Plasencia, Gaby Lopez and Victoria Vela for the event.

“We are excited to get back out on the golf course and shake the rust off,” Estes-Taylor said.  “We have worked really hard during this training period and have improved on some little things we saw in the fall.  We are ready to get out and test that and see where we are at as the championship portion of our season begins.”

This week’s field is tough and includes No. 6 Alabama, No. 29 Auburn, No. 36 Indiana, No. 82 Iowa, No. 25 Iowa State, No. 28 Kentucky, No. 83 Michigan, No. 21 North Carolina State, No. 138 Nebraska, No. 24 Northwestern, No. 19 Purdue, No. 32 SMU, No. 67 TCU and No. 20 Texas Tech.

“We are going to have to play well against this field,” Estes-Taylor said.  “It’s a tough and a good golf course.  We are looking to go out, knock the competition rust off and post some good numbers.”

The event is a three-day tournament on the par 72, 6,191 yard course this week.
