FAYETTEVILLE - University of Arkansas senior Kelli Shean is a nominee for the 2010-11 Women's Golf Honda Sports Award the Collegiate Women Sports Awards announced recently.

Shean, a Cape Town, South Africa, native, is coming off a second-place finish at the 2011 NCAA Women's Golf National Championship and earned her second National Golf Coaches Association All-America honor last week.

"Obviously, this is a tremendous honor for Kelli to be nominated," Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.  "Kelli is an outstanding representative for our program and has contributed much to our success.  It's been a lot of fun to watch her grow on and off the golf course both as a person and a player."

Shean's second-place finish at the NCAA Championship last week paced the Razorbacks to a program-best tie for fifth as a team.  She had six top 10 finishes as a senior and 28 top 20 career finishes.

Shean's four-under par at the NCAA Championship is the second-best performance for a Razorback in program history.  Her career as a Razorback ends with Shean ranked second for career scoring average with a 74.40 mark.

Shean also leaves the University with another very significant achievement - her degree.  She graduated in four years with a management degree in early May.  She was a three-time selection to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll and a multiple-time member of the Arkansas Athletic Department Honor Roll.

There are four nominees and nation-wide voting for the 2010-11 Golf Honda Sports Award takes place Wednesday.  The winner becomes a candidate for The Honda-Broderick Cup which is awarded each year to the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.

American Honda will donate $1,000 to the women's athletic fund of each nominee's university.
