NAIRN, Scotland – University of Arkansas sophomore
Emily Tubert joins Team USA as they begin play at the Curtis Cup at the Nairn Golf Club, in Nairn, Scotland, June 8-10.
The eight-player American squad, which is seeking an eighth consecutive USA victory in the Match, will have played no fewer than 81 holes on the 125-year-old course, getting in as much practice as possible in the tough and ever-changing weather conditions.
The three-day event features three difference forms of match play between teams from the United States and Great Brittan.
The first day begins with a foursomes or alternate shot in a two-on-two format. Players alternate taking shots until the completion of the hole. Players alternate tee shots, with one playing teeing off on even holes and the other on odd holes.
The second format is four-balls or best-ball. Again these are teams of two players competing against two other players. But in this format, each competitor plays her own ball with the best score on the hole used.
The final format is singles, which will be used on Sunday. One player competes against another.
Tubert is the third Razorback to represent Team USA on the Curtis Cup. Former Razorbacks
Stacy Lewis and Amanda McCurdy also took part in the event.
