NAIRN, Scotland – University of Arkansas sophomore Emily Tubert teamed with Amy Anderson winning their first day match leading the United States to an early lead in Curtis Cup Match action in Nairn, Scotland, Friday.

Tubert paired with North Dakota State’s Amy Anderson and the pair notched a4&3 win in the four ball match play of the second round of the day.  They defeated Pamela Pretswell and Charley Hull of Great Britain and Ireland.  With the win, the United States took a 4-0 lead with two matches still on the course.

In the morning rounds, Austin Ernst and Brooke Pancake defeated Kelly Tidy and Amy Boulden, 1 up.  Anderson teamed with TiffanyLua for a 2&1 win over Holly Clyburn and Bronte Law and Lindy Duncan and Lisa McCloskey got a 5&4 win over Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow.

In Tubert’s match, Team USA grabbed the lead early winning the first hole, a par four 390-yard start.  The teams halved the next two and the match moved all square when GB&I won the fourth hole.

After halving the fifth hole, Tubert and Anderson stepped up winning six and seven turning at 1-up.  They won four of the next six holes closing out the match with the 4&3 win.
The eight-player American squad is seeking an eighth consecutive USA victory in the Match.

The three-day event features three difference forms of match play between teams from the United States and Great Britain.

The first day began with a foursomes or alternate shot in a two-on-two format.  Players alternate taking shots until the completion of the hole. Players alternate tee shots, with one playing teeing off on even holes and the other on odd holes.

The second format is four-balls or best-ball. Again these are teams of two players competing against two other players. But in this format, each competitor plays her own ball with the best score on the hole used.

The final format is singles, which will be used on Sunday. One player competes against another.

Tubert is the third Razorback to represent Team USA on the Curtis Cup.  Former Razorbacks Stacy Lewis and Amanda McCurdy also took part in the event.
