FAYETTEVILLE - The No. 44 University of Arkansas women’s tennis team fell in a home match to No. 2 Florida, losing 7-0. The loss drops Arkansas to 10-12, 3-7 SEC on the season.

“Florida just did not let us get into our gameplan today,” Arkansas head coach Michael Hegarty said. “It was a good experience that we will benefit from moving forward.”

In doubles play, Florida started with a win at No. 1 doubles, as their No. 20 pair of Lauren Embree and Sofie Oyen defeated Arkansas’ No. 74 Claudine Paulson and Segou Jonker 8-1. Florida clinched the doubles point at No. 3 doubles, also winning 8-1.

In singles, the Gators got three early victories in straight sets to go up 4-0 and clinch the victory. At No. 4 singles, No. 107 Brianna Morgan defeated Flavia Araujo. At No. 5 singles, No. 118 Olivia Janowicz defeated Segou Jonker, and at No. 6 singles No. 115 Danielle Collins defeated Kristen Mee.

Freshman Brittany Huxley dropped her match at No. 3 singles, facing No. 53 Alexandra Cercone. Huxley fell 6-3, 6-2. No. 97 Claudine Paulson battled with No. 12 Sofie Oyen, but fell 7-5, 6-3. Playing against the No. 1 singles player in the nation, No. 47 Yang Pang fell to Lauren Embree 6-2, 6-1.
