FAYETTEVILLE -- The No. 45 University of Arkansas women's tennis team was defeated 4-0 by No. 4 Alabama at the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville, Ark., on Sunday.

The Razorbacks (5-8, 0-4 SEC) faced their seventh straight ranked opponent, but were unable to come up with an upset at home. Arkansas suffered defeats at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, as Alabama (12-2, 4-0 SEC) also earned victories at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

Yang Pang and Shannon Hudson were holding tough against ranked opponents at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, but both matches were left unfinished. Sarah McLean was also battling in a contested contest at No. 4 singles before the dual match was called in the 4-0 final.

DUAL MATCH RECAP
- Alabama clinched its 12th doubles point of the season and took an early 1-0 lead, as the Crimson Tide won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. No. 38 Surin/Huxley hung with No. 18 Jansen/Routliffe early, but were unable to pull out what would have been their third upset of a ranked team this season.

- The Crimson Tide extended their lead to 2-0, as No. 75 Erin Routliffe defeated Kimberley - Ann Surin in straight sets (6-2, 6-1).

- The lead swelled to 3-0 for Alabama, as Emily Zabor wrapped up her match (6-3, 6-2) with Oleksandra Shkorupeieva at No. 5 singles.

- Alabama clinched the dual match victory at No. 6 singles, as Natalia Maynetto defeated Flavia Araujo, 7-5, 6-1.

NEXT UP: ROAD REVENGE?
Arkansas travels next weekend and faces No. 10 Texas A&M on Friday, March 14, followed by Missouri on Sunday, March 16. The Razorbacks look to avenge losses they suffered to both teams last season at home. UA is 1-3 away from home so far this season.
