COMO, Italy – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team enjoyed another spectacular day in Como, Italy, Thursday.
Arkansas awoke to cooler temperatures and sunny conditions for an early morning boat tour from Como to Bellagio, a commune in the Province of Como, in the Italian region of Lombardy.& It is the intersection of the three branches of the Y-shaped Lake Como.
The hour-long water taxi was filled with stories about the many villas the team passed on the way including homes owned by Benito Mussolini, area aristocrats and the American actor George Clooney. The team arrived in Bellagio, a small village located where the three fingers of Lake Como merge and the Razorbacks spent an hour walking around the beautiful area.
The return boat ride, also an hour, took the team around the only island in the area and past several historic villas and back to Como.
After lunch on their own, several team members regrouped to ride a Funicular, a cable tram, that glided up the hills of Lago di Como.& From here, we could see all of Como and into Switzerland.
The day will end with players and coaches eating dinner on their own before a trip to Switzerland tomorrow.& Arkansas wraps up the competition schedule with a game against Chemcats Friday night before the return trip to Northwest Arkansas on Saturday.
