Trip to Honduras

May 11-19

By Emily Peacock

This May I had another chance to visit a little town called Yaramanguilla, Honduras for another mission trip. This year, Alex was able to come too. It was so fun to be there with another teammate and to be able to enjoy the experience together. The mountains were beautiful as usual and the weather was perfect for the kind of work we did.

This year we were able to work in one spot for a couple of days. This was perfect because we were really able to create relationships with the kids and the people in the town. For a couple of days we got our hands dirty. We mixed concrete and made a floor and a roof. We were also able to start the foundation for another house. We were always busy! If we weren’t mixing concrete we were playing with the kids! Everday, as our vans pulled up to the sight, the kids would come running up to greet us! The children were relentless and were always up for another game of el futbol!

This year we got to participate in a medical mission. The people came around for a chance to visit our doctor that traveled with us. He was able to help as many people as he could. We also de-liced a lot of hair and hopefully were able to provide some temporary relief.

We also had a chance to visit some schools around the area. Everyone was so welcoming and made our visit very enjoyable. There are not enough words to describe the joy and the excitement of this trip. I have learned and grew so much in just a week!! It was an incredible experience that I have been blessed to be a part of for two years now!

Here are a few photos of our trip!
