Academic Success Leads to AVCA Team Honor

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Turning in a standout combined performance in the classroom, the University of Arkansas volleyball team has earned an AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year. The Razorbacks open their 2017 season Aug. 25-26 with the Arkansas Classic at Barnhill Arena.

The AVCA Team Academic Award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale (or a 4.10 GPA on a 5.0 scale). This marks the program’s second AVCA academic selection, having previously being honored for the 2014-15 academic year.

The team had 10 student-athletes earn all-conference academic accolades this past year. Barbara Dapic, Fernanda Güitron, Bailee Hankenson, Breana Jones, Ana Sofia Jusino, Kori Ortiz, Savannah Voelzke and Adrien Wohlschlaeger were named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll while freshmen Rachel Rippee and Reagan Robinson earned spots on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
