FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s golf team travels to Florida for the Gator Women’s Invitational March 16-17, at the Mark Bostic Golf Course.

Arkansas is taking part in their third event of the spring and are looking to hit their stride and shore up a lineup that has seen many changes this season.

The Razorbacks are coming off a disappointing, rain-shortened event at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C., and are looking to post lower numbers this week.

“That might be the best college golf event I have ever been too,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said of the Darius Rucker.  “We just didn’t play as well as I would have liked.  We never got into a good rhythm and it showed in the scores.”

Arkansas has a chance to regroup this week sending sophomore Emily Tubert, redshirt sophomore Emma Lavy, junior Victoria Vela, redshirt sophomore Emily Podzielinski and freshman Hally Leadbetter into action in Florida.

“Last week was a good preparation tool for this week,” Estes-Taylor said.  “This is not a course you can over power.  You have to work hard to get around it.  IT’s tricky but we have some good preparation for it.”

In addition to the golf course, Arkansas faces a field stacked with Southeastern Conference teams.  It includes Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, UT-Chattanooga, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia State, Kent State, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Central Florida, South Florida and Wisconsin.

The Razorbacks should also feel comfortable with the course after a fifth place team showing last season.  Tubert tied for third overall shooting a six-over 216.

“This is another good, fair golf course and we are going into the event with the mindset that we are playing to win,” Estes-Taylor said.  “We are going to take it one stroke at a time and see where that leads us.”

The Razorbacks follow up the Florida trip with the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic March 30-April 1 in Athens, Ga.  Arkansas then hosts the 2012 SEC Championship at Blessings, April 20-22.
