OXFORD, Miss – Nanar Airapetian surged into the semifinals of Flight A in singles Saturday at the Rebel Classic in Oxford, Mississippi.
Coming of an impressive performance on Friday, Airapetian took advantage of Mississippi State’s Valeriya Makarycheva, 6-2, 6-1, to put her into the final four of the top-flight at the Rebel Classic.
However, Airapetian saw her victories come to an end Saturday afternoon against Karen Nijssen of Ole Miss in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-1.
Freshmen Emily Carbone and Kate Lukomskaya both dropped matches in third-set fashion on Saturday. Carbone, in Flight A, fell to South Alabama’s Michaela Babicova, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. Milou Israel from Louisiana-Lafayette dropped Lukomskaya, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
