Alcide, Williams at NACAC

FAYETTEVILLE – Makeba Alcide and Shelise Williams, members of the Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field team, will compete at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Under 23 Championships, Fri.-Sun., July 9-11, in Miramar, Fla.

Alcide recently completed her freshman campaign with the Razorbacks and will be representing her native St. Lucia. She will compete in the heptathlon Sat., July 10 and Sun., July 11. Alcide finished sixth in the multi-event at the 2010 SEC Outdoor Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. She scored a personal-best 5,153 points to set the St. Lucian National Record in the event.

Williams will represent the United States in the 400 meters and as a member of the 4×400-meter relay. She will run the semifinals and the finals of the 400 meters of Friday. The semifinals and the finals of the 4×400-meter relay will be contested Sunday.

She was the 2010 SEC Indoor Champion and Outdoor runner-up at 400 meters, was a member of the 2010 SEC Indoor and Outdoor Champion 4×400-meter relays, finished fifth in the 400 meters at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships and picked up four All-America honors during the 2010 season. Williams also broke the school records in the indoor and outdoor 400 meters.
