FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas junior Amy Allison earned American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region honorable mention.
Allison, a Jenks, Okla., native paced Arkansas and the Southeastern Conference in blocking and finished the regular season ranked second in the nation in blocks per game.
“Amy is certainly a leader for us, particularly in the last half of the season, said Arkansas head coach Chris Poole. “It’s a great honor for her to be recognized as one of the better middles in the region.”
Allison’s honor came on the heels of her first-ever SEC selection. She and the Lady’Backs won a share of their 11th SEC Western Division title and reached the second round of the conference tournament before a thrilling, five-game loss against fourth-ranked Florida to be eliminated.
Allison and the Lady’Backs were rewarded with an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament the following week where they again reached the second round before falling at Missouri to the No. 10 Tigers.
“Amy was selected to the all-region team because she was one of the most consistently players all season,” said Poole. “I’m sure she’ll continue to lead us again next year.”
