Anderson Inks Sunshine State Forward to NLI

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas men’s basketball head coach Mike Anderson has announced the signing of small forward Lorenzo Jenkins from First Baptist Academy in Naples, Florida to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Razorbacks for the 2015-16 season.

A recently reclassified student-athlete from 2016 to 2015, Jenkins was the Florida Class 3A District 18 Player of the Year in 2014-15 after averaging 14.3 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per contest. The 6-foot-7 small forward ended his prep career with 1,270 points and 612 rebounds.

“We are excited to have Lorenzo join the Razorback basketball family,” said Anderson. He is a good student-athlete and a young player for his class that has all the best basketball in front of him. With his work ethic, Lorenzo has a chance to develop into a versatile player for us.”

Jenkins helped lead First Baptist Academy to three straight district championships and to the Class 3A Regional Final in 2015, scoring 23 points in the double overtime contest.

A 47-percent shooter from the floor last season, he averaged 1.3 steals per game, 0.6 blocks per game and 1.8 assists per contest on his way to being named to the Naples Daily News All-Area Team and the Class 3A All-State Team.
