Andrew Landry Tied for Eighth after Round One of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate
SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, O’ahu – Arkansas sophomore Andrew Landry fired a season-low 3-under-par 69 in the opening round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on the par-72, 6,916-yar Leilehua Golf Course on Wednesday.
The Razorbacks are in 18th place just nine strokes out of the top 10 with a 9-over-par round of 297. UNLV leads the tournament with an 11-under-par round of 277.
Landry is just four strokes behind leader Michael Drake of Long Beach State, who shot a 65 in Wednesday’s first round.
Redshirt freshman Stephen Cox is tied for 65th place with 14 other golfers after a 2-over-par round of 74. He opened with a 3-over 39 on the front side before catching fire on the back nine with a 1-under par 35. Sophomore Jason Turner is one shot back in a tie for 79th place after a 3-over-par 75.
True freshman Frederico Colombo shot a 38 on the front nine and a 41 on the back side for a 7-over-par 79 in his first tournament with the Razorbacks. Allen McFerran shot an 8-over-par round of 80.
The second round is scheduled to tee off at 11 a.m. (CST) on Thursday.
