FAYETTEVILLE – The Razorback Athletics Annual Report was recently awarded the prestigious Apex Award for outstanding achievement in the field of public relations. Each year, the Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America hosts the Apex Awards honoring products and programs that use exemplary communication practices in the general business community.
The 2010-11 Razorback Athletics Annual Report featured the academic, athletic and community service accomplishments of more than 460 Razorback student-athletes. The 32-page four-color publication also highlighted the impact of the Razorback program throughout the state and region with nearly 200 athletic competitions and events drawing more than one million fans.
The financial section of the report included a review of the successful Razorback Seat Value Plan (RSVP), which resulted in more than 2,600 new Razorback Foundation members and an additional $6.5 million in additional support for Razorback Athletics. The report also outlined the program’s finances and provided comparisons to other Southeastern Conference institutions.
The report was distributed to the more than 12,000 members of the Razorback Foundation and hundreds of other campus, community constituents and leaders in intercollegiate athletics. Associate Athletic Director for Public Relations Kevin Trainor served as the executive editor of the annual report. Editorial assistance was also provided by members of the department’s Senior Staff, media relations department and the Razorback Foundation.
