Another Good Day On The Links

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – It’s a busy week in University of Arkansas women’s golf with several student-athletes taking part in amateur events all over the world.

Four Razorbacks are participating in the Mexican Women’s Amateur Championship in Mexico City. Sophomore Cara Gorlei shot up the leaderboard with a second round 73, four strokes better than round one, and moved up from a tie for 12th overall to third place with a 150 after play on Tuesday.

Senior Summar Roachell also moved up from a tie for seventh after one round into a tie for fourth after round two. Roachell is in the clubhouse with rounds of 77–74—151.

Junior Jordy LaBarbera is also playing well. LaBarbera shot 74-78—152 and is in seventh place. Mexico City native Maria Fassi rounds out the Razorback players. Fassi, the two-time defending champion at this event, is in striking distance of the lead in eighth place shooting 75–78—153.

The 46-player event continues through Thursday at the Club d Golf Bellavista.

Cactus Tour
Razorback sophomore Kaylee Benton is taking part in an event on the Cactus Tour at Sun City County Club in Goodyear, Arizona, this week. She is one of 14 players in the event and one of seven amateurs competing in the tournament.

Benton fired a first round 5-over 39–38—77 and is tied for second overall. She bettered that with the low round of the tournament shooting a second-day 70 to take the lead in the event with one round remaining.
