Arkansas Back In Action At Gopher Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 33 Arkansas men’s golf team returns to action for the second straight week on Sunday, traveling to the University of Minnesota for the Gopher Invitational.

The Razorbacks return to the Gopher Invite for the second straight year and the seventh time in the last 11 seasons. Arkansas captured a team title at the tournament in 2011 when it won a program record seven regular season championships. The Razorbacks had a sixth-place showing at the event last year as all 15 teams finished over par.

The 54-hole event will be played at the John Fought and Tom Lehman designed Windsong Farm Golf Club, a par 71, 7,368-yard layout that opened in 2004. Teams will play 36 holes on Sunday, Sept. 10, before coming back for 18 holes on Monday, Sept. 11. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com or via the Golfstat Live app.

The 16-team field features eight programs that played in the 2017 NCAA National Championship and 10 teams ranked in the latest Golfstat national poll. Last season’s event was rated the 17th-toughest tournament of the year by Golfweek.

Arkansas will travel its top five finishers from last week’s season opener, as Alvaro Ortiz will top the lineup, followed by Luis Garza, Mason Overstreet, William Buhl and Charles Kim.

While the Razorbacks compete as a team, three more players will travel and compete simultaneously at the Gopher Individual. Sophomore Dylan Naidoo and freshmen Kyle Robinson and Landon Ernst will take on the par 72, 6,953-yard Pioneer Creek Golf Course.
