Arkansas Caps Fall Campaign In Florida

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s golf team will close out its fall schedule this week, traveling to Vero Beach, Florida, to take part in the Quail Valley Intercollegiate.
The Razorbacks will tee it up in their fifth and final event of the fall, as the 54-hole event will be played at Quail Valley Golf Club, a par 72, 7,350-yard layout. Arkansas will play 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 24, before closing out play with the final round on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com or via the Golfstat Live app.
Arkansas is coming off a victory at the Mountaineer Intercollegiate, clearing the field by 11 shots to capture a tournament title for the 11th consecutive season. The victory was head coach Brad McMakin’s 23rd win at the helm of the Razorbacks.
Arkansas will now turn its attention to a Quail Valley field that features 15 teams. Joining the Razorbacks will be Indiana, Jacksonville, Kansas, No. 22 Liberty, McNeese State, Memphis, Michigan State, Middle Tennessee,
Mississippi State, North Florida, North Texas, Notre Dame, Ohio State and West Virginia.
The Razorbacks will feature a rookie-heavy lineup once again as four of the five players are in their inaugural collegiate season.
Junior Alvaro Ortiz tops the lineup for the fifth-straight tournament and leads the team in stroke average at 71.0 with four top-20 finishes, including two of those in the top five. He is followed by Luis Garza in the No. 2 position, who has three consecutive top-20 finishes and is coming off a fourth place showing at the Mountaineer Intercollegiate.
Dylan Naidoo will tee it up in the No. 3 position after posting his first collegiate top-five finish last time out with a career-best 14 birdies. Two more freshmen round out the lineup as Mason Overstreet holds down the No. 4 spot, followed by William Buhl at No. 5.
