Arkansas Captures 4×800-Meter Relay Title at T

Austin, Texas – Arkansas’ 4×800-meter relay team had a strong showing as they captured the title at the 75th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays with a time of 7:25.71. The Razorbacks ran in three events during the first day of competition.
“I was real pleased, because they’re young guys and to come down here and win is great,” Arkansas head coach John McDonnell said. “(Robbie) Stevens really broke it open for us. The plan was if we got the lead, to run fast and make everyone else come after us. That’s what we want to do is win, because Texas is a big recruiting place for us. Overall, it was a good first day. I hope we can win a couple more.”
Freshman Michael Taylor led with the fastest leg of the relay team with a time of 1:50.70 and handed off to sophomore Robbie Stevens. Stevens ran the second leg in 1:50.90 and handed off to freshman Said Ahmed who ran the third leg of the 4×800 meters in 1:52.00. Sophomore Chris Mulvaney anchored the winning team with a time of 1:52.10.
In the prelims of the 400-meter hurdles senior Sam Glover led his heat to finish first with a time of 52.77. Razorback teammate junior Josh Landreth finished third in the same heat with a time of 54.25. Landreth improved from his season best time of 58.97. Neither qualified for the finals.
