Arkansas Completes Preseason Slate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas Soccer wrapped up their lone fall preseason match with a 2-0 win over Kansas State on Thursday night at Razorback Field.

Freshmen Kayla McKeon and Petra Smetkova each scored on headers in their debut match as Razorbacks. McKeon scored the game-winning goal in the 20th minute of the first half and Smetkova added to the final result in the 85th minute.

The Razorbacks led the Wildcats in shots 31-0 and corner kicks 10-0.

“I thought we were very good in the first half,” Arkansas head soccer coach Colby Hale said. “I thought we let up a bit after we scored the goal, which is not up to our standards. At half time, I told them that this is a good team and they’re in the game. I thought we were very good in the second half. The first half started well, but we have to put in a full 45.”

Arkansas will kick off their 30th regular season next week on the road with a pair of games in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Razorbacks will face James Madison on Friday, Aug. 19 and Virginia Commonwealth on Sun., Aug. 21.
