Arkansas Completes Spring Season

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas completed its fifth and final spring exhibition game Saturday afternoon falling to the Kansas Jayhawks 2-0 at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas. The game was the Razorbacks’ first loss of the spring after victories against Illinois, Oral Roberts, Northwestern State and a draw against Oklahoma.

“We’ll talk about the spring as a whole, but as a one-off, today wasn’t our day,” head coach Colby Hale said. “We worked hard, but not together. Credit Kansas, they were the better team today. We finished 3-1-1 and had some really bright moments. We made our spring schedule tough so we could find some areas we needed to improve. I thought we did that. Overall it was a good and productive spring.”

Through five exhibition games, senior midfielder Claire Kelley led the Razorbacks with 8 points (3 goals, 2 assists) followed by senior midfielder Rachel Riggs with 6 points from 3 goals. Junior midfielder Katie Kienstra, senior forward Katie Moore and junior forward Sarah Price all tied for third with 2 points each. Redshirt freshman hybrid midfielder/forward Reid Sibley is in fourth place with one point from an assist tallied during the spring opener against Illinois on April 2.

Arkansas will continue offseason preparations in anticipation of its fall season opener on the road against James Madison University on Aug. 19 and its home opener against NCAA Tournament runner-up Duke at Razorback Field on Aug. 26.
