Arkansas Continues Game Planning For Minnesota
BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks spent just over an hour and a half working on the game plan for the Minnesota Golden Gophers Tuesday afternoon and then wrapped up the practice session with spirited scrimmage featuring the underclassmen.
The Razorbacks will take a break from the practice fields Wednesday and instead hit the weight room and perform conditioning drills in addition to studying game film of Minnesota.
Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said most of the coaching staff would use the time away from the practice fields to focus on recruiting.
“Tomorrow we will lift, run and spend time on film study,” Nutt said. “One of the things going to the SEC Championship game does is it gets you a chance at some outstanding recruits. But, because of the extra time preparing for that game we have gotten a little behind so we are going to go on some home visits tomorrow.”
As for the practice session, Nutt was pleased with the Razorbacks’ effort and concentration the past two days.
“We have had a good pace this week,” Nutt said. “We have performed well and taken some positive steps.” Commenting on the freshmen scrimmage, Nutt added that several players stood out in the drill.
“There was a lot of energy out there with the freshmen,” Nutt said. “Marcus Whitmore, Desmond Sims and Chase Pressley have looked good. Tony Ugoh and Tyler Morgan stood out a little and Johnny Johnson has run the ball really well.”
The Razorbacks will wrap up practice Sunday before breaking for Christmas. Arkansas will report in Nashville, Tenn., on Thursday, Dec. 26, to continue preparations for the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30.
