FAYETTEVILLE— After eight complete innings against Texarkana College, the Arkansas Razorbacks tallied a 23-0 final score at Bogle Park on Wednesday, Sept. 22.
UA lit up the board quickly with an RBI by sophomore Linnea Ketcher to bring in lead-off hitter, Macy Burr. Burr crossed the plate in the second and fourth innings for the Hogs and came around once more in the eighth as a pinch runner. Freshman Chloe Oprzedek also came around the bases in the top of the first.
“I think we became a better and closer team today,” head coach Mike Larabee. “I’m really pleased and I think they did what we needed to do.”
Sophomore Hope McLemore worked two innings in the circle and struck out three Bulldogs. Senior Kim Jones also pitched two complete innings and didn’t allow a hit or runner on base.
“Our pitchers did a good job for us today,” Larabee said. “Layne (McGuirt) and Hope (McLemore) had good velocity and they are all continuing to improve.”
McGuirt had five strike outs for the Razorbacks.
The Hogs went without a run in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, but made up for it in the last go around. Seven runs came for the Hogs in the eighth inning with a triple by junior Tori Mort and a stolen base from McGuirt.
Up next for Arkansas is Crowder College ion Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. Last season, the Razorbacks swept Crowder in a doubleheader.
