FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Following top 10 finishes by the track teams at the NCAA Indoor championships, Arkansas has moved up to eighth in the latest NCAA Division I Sears Directors’ Cup standings.

Arkansas earned 80 points for a fourth-place finish by the men’s club while the 11th-place finish by the women’s team contributed 74 points. Earlier this year, Arkansas’ men’s cross country team added 80 points with a third-place finish while the 17th-place showing by the women’s team accounted for another 35 points. The Lady’Back volleyball team also finished 33rd nationally, adding another 20 points to Arkansas’ total of 289 points.

Stanford is in first with 645.5 points, followed by Colorado (481), North Carolina (454.5), BYU (361.5), UCLA (361), Florida (348), Texas (297.5) and Arkansas. The rest of the top 20 includes Nebraska (285) at No. 9 followed by Notre Dame (282.5), Tennessee (257.5), Arizona (256), South Carolina (255), Clemson (250), Oregon (247.5), LSU (245), Michigan State (243), Texas A&M (236.5), Virginia (234) and Maryland (228).

Other SEC schools ranked include Kentucky at No. 26 (196), Auburn at No. 44 (148.5), Alabama at No. 61 (113), Georgia at No. 68 (100), Mississippi State at No. 84 (74.5) and Ole Miss at No. 124 (46.5).

Points in the Sears Directors’ Cup race are awarded based on an institution’s finish in up to 20 sports – 10 for men and 10 for women. Standings are released periodically throughout the year with the final results coming out during the summer.
