Arkansas Finishes Friday Practice With Energet
BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks spent just over an hour and a half in sunny, but cool conditions Friday afternoon working on the game plan for their Dec. 30, showdown against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
After working on team drills, the Razorbacks closed the practice with an energetic one-on-one goal line drill.
“We finished with a challenge with the red shirt freshmen,” Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. “They get on the ground and one has the ball, the other is the tackler and has to stop him. It’s just good old fashion tackle football.”
Although the Hogs finished with a flurry, Nutt said the Razorbacks got off to a slow start Friday.
“We didn’t start out very well today,” Nutt said. “We finally got going and were able to get some things done. We’re trying to keep them from thinking too much about the break and going home for Christmas. That is the fine line about bowl preparations. You are trying to get better, but you are thinking about home and family a lot.”
Nutt said the Razorbacks are guarding against any potential letdown for the Music City Bowl and are looking forward to their contest against Big 10 foe Minnesota.
“We’re looking to go down there with the right attitude,” Nutt said. “We’ve been talking a lot to the team about how it is a privilege to go to a bowl game and how there a lot of teams that are sitting at home that would like to be where we are right now.”
Arkansas finished the regular season with a 9-4 overall record, while Minnesota posted a 7-5 mark during the season. The Razorbacks and Golden Gophers kickoff at 1 p.m. CT from The Coliseum in Nashville, Tenn. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
