Arkansas Finishes Strong In Athens

Final Results

ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 24 Arkansas men’s golf team continued its impressive spring campaign on Monday, competing in the Southern Intercollegiate at Athens Country Club and finishing fourth in the field of 15 teams.

The Razorbacks record their fifth top-five finish in the last six events, knocking off a pair of nationally ranked programs, including No. 19 and tournament host Georgia. Arkansas improves its overall head-to-head record to 84-31 this season, including a 42-14 mark during the spring.

Junior Alvaro Ortiz continued to play some of the best golf of his collegiate career, finishing T-3rd overall with rounds of 71-68 – 139 (-5). He has four top-five showings on the year and leads the team with 13 rounds under par this season.

Freshman Luis Garza had the best morning round on the team with a 2-under 70 and signed for 70-71 – 141 (-3) to finish second on the team and inside the top-10 for the third time during his rookie campaign.

Freshman Dylan Naidoo got around at even-par in the morning waive and followed that up with a 2-over 74 to finish T-18th overall, his fourth top-20 finish of the season. Fellow rookie William Buhl finished one shot behind Naidoo and T-30th overall at 75-72 – 147 (+3).

Charles Kim rounded out the counting scores T-52nd overall at 8-over, while Mason Overstreet competed as an individual and finished 18-over.

The Razorbacks will have a six-day break before returning to the course on Sunday, March 19 for a three-day event at the Valspar Collegiate in Palm City, Florida.
