Arkansas Golfers in 8th Place at the Morris Wi

AUSTIN, Texas. – The Arkansas men’s golf team still has one golfer left to finish his second round of play at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate, but the Razorbacks are tied for eighth place headed into Tuesday’s final-day action at the Austin Country Club.
The Razorbacks are one of three teams that were unable to complete play of their second round due to darkness. The two-day event has 36 holes played on the first day and the Hogs turned in a first round total of eight-over-par 296.
Matt Bortis is the only player left on the course for the Razorbacks, and he just has the final hole to complete. Arkansas’ carded a 22-over-par score of 310 with Bortis’ final hole scheduled for 7:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.
SEC foe Florida leads the event after firing an even-par 288 in the first round and a 6-under-par 282 in the second round. Oklahoma State is in second place, 13 strokes back of the Gators at 583. Florida has three players in the top five individually, with Richard Treis leading the way at four-under.
Beau Glover’s 69 in the first round tied his career best and left him tied for first place. However, the sophomore from Sherwood, Ark., could not keep pace in the second round, shooting a 79 and dropping into a tie for 14th headed into Tuesday’s final round.
Bortis, coming off of his first career win at the NIT Invitational last week, struggled in today’s first round with a six-over-par 78. But the sophomore quickly returned to form for the Hogs in the second round, firing an even-par round before play was suspended.
Scotty Campbell played well in the first round for Arkansas, carding a one-over-par 73. But like many of the Razorbacks, Campbell could not find his swing in the second round with an 82 that left him in a tie for 45th place.
Eric Shriver opened the day with a 76 and followed that with an 83 for a two-round total of 158. Barrett Lais finished with a two-round total of 168.
Arkansas will tee is final round off at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.
