Arkansas Hits the Road for Mississippi State

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The Arkansas volleyball team will head to Mississippi State for a mid-week match, the first of a three-match road stretch. The Hogs went 1-1 last week, sweeping South Carolina but falling to Alabama.

All-Time Series vs Mississippi State

Wednesday’s match against the Bulldogs will be the 47th meeting between the two teams. Arkansas has dominated the series, holding a 41-5 advantage. This is the second time this season that the Hogs will face Mississippi State, earning a 3-1 victory at home. The Razorbacks have won the last 12 meetings between the teams.

Last Time Out

Arkansas fell 3-1 at home to Alabama on Sunday. The Hogs nearly earned a first set victory, but rallied and dominated the second set. In the third set, both teams played close but the Tide defeated Arkansas 26-24 and took the match in the fourth.

Through the first month of SEC play, the Hogs sit in ninth place in the conference standings. Sophomore Hailey Dirrigl comes in at No. 7 in kills/set, averaging 3.55 with 227 this season. Junior Rachel Rippee is sixth with 8.96 assists/set, recording 600 in 18 matches. Freshman Lauren Evans’ 0.36 aces/set tie for fourth in the SEC while senior Okiana Valle is at the top of the league with 5.00 digs/set.

Record-Breaking Performances

Senior Okiana Valle moved into second-place for all-time digs against Alabama, recording 27 to give her a career total of 1,666. Junior Rachel Rippee is now fourth in program history for career assists with 2,895, looking for 3,182 to move into third-place.

The match will be streamed on the SEC Network. First serve against the Bulldogs is set for 7 p.m.
