Arkansas in Second After Two Rounds of Gary Ko

TAMPA, Fla. – The Razorback golf team registered an outstanding first day of play at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate and finds itself in second place with a score of 567. UA carded a 282 in the first round and 285 in the second on Old Memorial’s par-72, 7,036-yard golf course. The Hogs are trailing the leader, No. 7 Georgia Tech (555), by 12 strokes. Top-ranked Florida is right behind Arkansas in third with a score of 568. LSU (42) and TCU (6) are tied in fourth with 570.
Three Razorback golfers ended the first day in the top 20 with senior Seth Murphy leading the charge. Murphy registered a six-under-par 138 after he shot 71 in the first round and 67 in the second. His second round score of 67 tied his career-best from The Perry Maxwell Intercollegiate last spring. Murphy is only three shots off the leader, Charleston’s John Assey.
Senior All-American Andrew Dahl is tied for 11th with a three-under-par 141. Dahl posted first and second round scores of 68 and 73, respectively. Freshman Beau Glover was next with a two-under-par 142. The Sherwood, Ark., native shot a season-best 70 in the first round and a 72 in the second.
Freshman Matt Bortis is competing in his first tournament as a Razorback and is tied for 37th after two rounds. Bortis put up first and second rounds of 73 and 74, respectively, which gave him a three-over-par 147. Sophomore Paul Bradshaw rounded out the UA field in a tie for 41st with a four-over-par 148. He carded a 75 in the first round and a season-best 73 in the second round.
The final round of the Gary Koch Intercollegiate will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. ET. The Hogs will travel next to Baton Rouge, La., to conclude their fall campaign at the Country Club of Louisiana Classic on October 26-28.
