FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After helping Arkansas to its first-ever three-game series sweep of LSU last weekend, Razorback junior pitcher Charlie Isaacson was named Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week in a Monday announcement by the league’s media relations office. Isaacson, a 6-2, 190-pound right-hander from Overland Park, Kan., held No. 1 LSU to five hits and allowed just one run (unearned) en route to a complete-game victory in Friday’s 8-1 Arkansas win over the Fighting Tigers. The complete game was the third of Isaccson’s career, his first since an 8-1 win over Ole Miss on May 7, 1999 and just the second by a Razorback hurler this season. Monday’s announcement marked Isaacson’s first league pitcher-of-the-week honor and the first for an Arkansas pitcher since Jared Manatt was named SEC Pitcher of the Week after the final series of the 2000 season.
