Arkansas Looking for Better Performance in Sou

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – When the 13th-ranked Razorbacks travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. they will look to improve from their 14th-place showing last week at the Cleveland Golf Classic and turn in a quality performance at the General Jim Hackler Intercollegiate. Arkansas has seen success at the formerly named Coastal Carolina Invitational. Last year the Hogs claimed their first team tournament in five years at the tournament on the TPC of Myrtle Beach.
Seniors Andrew Dahl and Seth Murphy, sophomore Paul Bradshaw and freshmen Matt Bortis and Beau Glover will represent Arkansas on the par 72, 6,950-yard golf course. The same five-man squad has competed together in the last two tourneys.
Dahl earned career-best runner-up honors on the course in 2003 and is ready to return for another year of competition. He is carding the second-best average on the team with a 72.8 and has recorded four top 25 finishes. Murphy is leading the team by a slim margin with an average of 72.3. He recently posted a career-best round of 66 at the Cleveland Golf Classic and will shoot for more low rounds this week.
Bortis is holding his own with a 73.2 that puts him at fourth-best on team. He also has two top 15 finishes to his name. Next is Bradshaw who is carrying a 74.1 stroke average through four tournaments. Glover is close behind with an average of 74.3 and has tallied three top-30 finishes this year.
Arkansas is one of the highest ranked teams heading into the General Jim Hackler Intercollegiate. Seventeen other schools will join UA on the greens, including Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Furman, Kansas State (30), Long Beach State, Louisville, Michigan, Pepperdine, South Alabama, South Carolina (11), Texas-Arlington, Central Florida, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
The Razorbacks will play two rounds on Monday and conclude the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday. Arkansas will have a quick turn around after it returns from South Carolina. The Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas is next on March 14-16.
