Arkansas Plays Two This Weekend

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ (6-1) tennis team takes its No. 35 ranking into action this weekend as it takes on both Oklahoma State and Southwest Missouri State.Arkansas will head to Tulsa, Okla., to face the No. 19 Oklahoma State Cowboys Saturday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. at the University of Tulsa’s Micheal D. Case Tennis Center. Oklahoma State is lead by Thomas Bohnicky, 11-2 on the season, and by Mark Van Elden, 4-2. Oklahoma State has a 3-0 record with wins over Dartmouth, Hampton and Drake. The Cowboys were scheduled to play two matches in California last weekend, but were rained out.“Oklahoma State is a highly ranked team, and is tough at all positions,” head coach Robert Cox said. “They play great tennis, and have a lot of experience. It will take an incredible effort to defeat them.”Arkansas currently has two nationally ranked players, Adrians Zguns, No. 12 in the nation, still recovering from flu symptoms, and Nathan Price, No. 76 in the nation. The Razorbacks also have junior Imraan Ismail who has won seven consecutive matches and is now 12-6 on the season.After Oklahoma State on Saturday, the Razorbacks will return back home to host Southwest Missouri State at the Dills Indoor Tennis Center Sunday, Feb. 29, at 1 p.m. This will be the Razorbacks fourth meeting with the Bears in four years. Southwest Missouri State is 1-3 on the season with two losses coming against ranked teams, No. 71 Arkansas Little-Rock and No. 53 Tulsa.Following this weekend’s play, the Razorbacks will begin SEC play against Tennessee on Friday, March 5, at the UA Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.
