Arkansas Shuts Out Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team returned to the courts with a doubleheader sweep at Alabama State on Friday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama. The Razorbacks won both matches 5-0 and improve to 6-5 overall, ahead of their Southeastern Conference opener at Alabama on Sunday.

“It was a good first day to be outside,” head coach Andy Jackson said. “It was two disciplined matches. Playing today was good preparation for Alabama on Sunday.”

Arkansas won all eight completed matches in both doubles and singles. Eight different players recorded wins in singles play, including No. 5 Mike Redlicki and No. 22 Jose Salazar. Redlicki and Salazar, the No. 57 doubles team in the nation, won their only doubles match at the No. 1 spot in the first match of the doubleheader.

The doubles teams of Adam Sanjurjo and Oscar Mesquida, Johan den Toom and Branch Terrell, and Jacob Herndon and Austin Robles won both of their doubles matches of the doubleheader.

Arkansas continues play on the road and opens Southeastern Conference play at Alabama on Sunday at 1 p.m. Arkansas also plays at Tennessee and No. 22 Georgia, before returning home to face No. 19 South Carolina on March 16.
