Arkansas Signs Top-20 Shooting Guard

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas men’s basketball head coach Mike Anderson announced that 6-4 guard Isaiah Joe of Fort Smith Northside High School has signed a National Letter of Intent, becoming the third addition to the 2018-19 class.

Joe is rated as a four-star player by Rivals.com and ranked as high as the No. 1 player in the state of Arkansas, according to 247Sports.com. He is also ranked the 93rd-best player in the country, including the 20th-best shooting guard with a grade of 91 by 247Sports.com.

Joe helped lead Northside to a state title during his junior year, averaging 18.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. He was named to the 2017 All-State and All-Tournament teams.

The sharp-shooter shot over 51-percent from the behind the arc for the Arkansas Hawks, averaging 16 points per game. In Las Vegas at the Adidas Summer Championships, Joe shot 57.1 percent from deep, averaging 13.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

“Isaiah has a tremendous basketball IQ,” said Anderson. “When it’s all said and done, he will have a chance to be a special player for us. He can really handle the basketball, has unlimited range shooting the ball, good vision and is sneaky athletic. He makes an impact on both ends of the floor and comes from a winning culture that captured the State Championship last season.
