Lady’Backs host Arkansas Fall Festival
Arkansas opens the 2006 fall season Sunday at Lady’Back Yard. The Lady Razorbacks welcome Seminole State, Crowder and Bacone for the one-day tournament.
Arkansas returns 12 players from the 2006 squad that finished 26-35. Lone senior Rachel LeMaster leads the team that welcomes eight newcomers.
In the 2006 season, junior Dayna Huckabee led the team with a .415 slugging percentage. She also led the team in doubles (10), triples (3) and RBIs (25), and was second on the team in home runs (4).
Senior outfielder Rachel LeMaster is one of the Lady’Backs’ returning offensive threats. In 2006, LeMaster was third on the team with a .258 batting average. She collected 46 hits and utilized her speed to record a team-high 19 stolen bases.
In 2006 Arkansas junior pitcher Katy Henry fanned almost 100 more batters than the previous 2005 season. She tallied 219 strikeouts in 218.1 innings pitched and 43 appearances, putting her second on the list for strikeouts in an individual season.
On the mound
Two newcomers join Henry in the circle this season. Miranda Dixon and Teighynne Hulsey compete for playing time on the mound.
In the area
Rogers, Ark. product Hannah Cicioni, and Jess Reed of Fayetteville, Ark. add some local flavor to the Lady’Backs’ roster this season.

The Lady Razorbacks host two more tournaments this fall. Sept. 16, Arkansas hosts Connors State, Neosho County and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in the Lady’Back Fall Festival, and on Sept. 30 the Lady’Backs welcome Carl Albert, Rogers State and Oklahoma Baptist for the Arkansas Fall Invitational.
