WAIKOLOA, HAWAII – The Arkansas men’s golf team shot a 14-under-par 274 on Wednesday in the first round of the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Village Course.
The Razorbacks finished the day tied for eighth place with Georgia Tech, just 10 strokes off the pace set by second-ranked Oklahoma State (264).
Sophomore Matt Bortis and true freshman Eric Shriver carded 4-under-par 68s to finish in a tie for 17th place individually and pace UA.
“We put ourselves in a pretty good position heading into tomorrow’s second round,” Arkansas Head Coach Mike Ketcham said. “The wind didn’t blow at all today, and that really led to some very low scoring.”
