NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Arkansas completed its Southeastern Conference triple crown at the Vanderbilt Track on Sunday night when the top-ranked Razorbacks claimed their 12th SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championship and their 21st outdoor league title. The Hogs tallied 169 points, while second-place Florida had 116 and Tennessee was third with 109. The victory also marked an unprecedented 76th overall conference crown since 1974. It is the 19th time Coach McDonnell’s teams have achieved a conference triple crown.
“We had a great meet,” Arkansas head coach John McDonnell said. “We didn’t get points the way we expected, but like great Arkansas teams of the past we had other people step up and perform well.”
Arkansas’ high score was made possible with the outstanding performances of sophomore Peter Kosgei. The Kapsabet, Kenya native ran a total of four races in three days and racked up 26 points to earn the Commissioner’s Trophy, recognizing the meet’s top individual scorer.
