Arkansas Wraps Up Thursday Practice With Fresh
BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks wrapped up Thursday’s practice session with a brief freshmen scrimmage before adjourning to a team meeting.
The Razorbacks spent just over an hour working out in the Walker Indoor Pavilion in preparation for next Saturday’s Southeastern Conference opener against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt was pleased with the Hogs’ workout and noted the team’s focus and concentration.
“We had a good workout today,” Nutt said. “We worked on special teams and the game plan for Alabama. The players did a good job today and really all this week. They all had a good attitude this week and we got a lot of things accomplished.”
Nutt added the Razorbacks will take Friday and Saturday off before returning to the practice field Sunday.
“We’re going to let them off the next two days,” Nutt said. “We’re going to let them go home and see their families. We’re going to practice a little longer than normal on Sunday. It will be a lot like a Tuesday practice.”
While the Razorbacks take the weekend off, Alabama hosts non-conference foe Southern Mississippi on Saturday.
“It will be good to see them play this weekend,” Nutt said. “It will give us a little more to look at on film. Alabama is a very good team. They are physical and have good leadership with Tyler Watts at quarterback. They also have a good tailback in (Ahmaad) Galloway. It will be a challenge for us.”
Arkansas and Alabama play in the SEC opener for both schools Sept. 28, at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The game will be televised nationally by either CBS or ESPN.
